As a result of the large amount of work Focus Education undertakes around the world, we have developed an extensive library on brain-compatible learning topics. We offer this information to teachers, parents and students in a number of ways. Some of our articles we make available free on this website. We have combined the majority of this work into an extraodinary collection of articles for use by schools.
Parenting with the Brain in Mind: The Human Brain in Action - A series of Articles for your school’s weekly newsletters
Articles focus on the learning process as it applies to success at school and in life beyond formal education. We explore the emotional development of children and examine the general health and wellbeing that help fashion the path to success. We will examine the critical roles of nutrition, water, exercise, play and sleep in children’s development. Each article will address specific issues. Week-by-week the collection will grow into a fantastic resource that answers the most commonly asked questions from parents. For example, Is punishment the best method for inspiring our children to change their behaviour? How can parents contribute to the schooling experience of their children? What can children do to improve their educational experiences? How might we use our knowledge of the human brain to construct and reconstruct formal education so that it better reflects our beliefs? What are learning styles and how do they impct on children’s motivational levels? What foods are best for growing children? How much sleep is just right for a child? How do we help our children to live their lives with optimism? What does ‘gifted and talented’ actually mean? What is genetic and what is environmental?
